To: All East Fairmont High School Alumni, Business Associates and Friends

I am pleased to report to all of you that the EFHS FOUNDATION is alive and well and continues to advance its mission of providing support to the school, its students and educators. I feel honored to have an active Board of Directors who willingly devote time, energy and expertise to the advancement of the Foundation.

With their direction, the Foundation is highly regarded in the Fairmont community and this positive perception helps the Foundation in their fund-raising activities.

Financially, the Foundation has been very conservative in its investment philosophy and therefore has not been shocked or rocked with declining asset base. These assets continue to yield positive returns which form the core of income which can be directed to Scholarships, Student Support and Educational Enhancements.

Scholarships for students continue to be our primary mission and in this year the Foundation will fund at least 40 scholarships to graduating East Fairmont seniors or to those college students who have previously received one of the renewable scholarships that we offer.

We are also pleased to announce that a new collaborative effort between the EFHS Foundation and the Fairmont State Foundation has created a new, high value scholarship plan for five(5) graduating seniors who elect to attend Fairmont State University or Pierpont Community and Technical College . The EFHS Foundation will award five (5) $1000 scholarships to chosen graduates, and the Fairmont State Foundation will match our $1000 with an equal amount for those students.

In addition to providing scholarships, the Foundation has given support this year to the AP program, the journalism department, the choir program, and has supported the faculty through teacher enhancements. All of these worthy programs require cash generation and our major fund raising events involve Multi-Phasic Blood Testing in conjunction with Fairmont General Hospital , our Spring Mother's Day Fern Sale (See attached order form) and the Annual EFHS Golf Tournament(See attached sign-up form). Additionally, your support through membership renewals is vitally important to our cause. Please see the Membership/Donation Card included with this note. If you need data to assist with Class Reunion planning, please be reminded that you can contact our data base manager, Mrs. Clyde(Berni) Dodd at bmdodd@comcast.net for information.

Finally, let me close by suggesting that you stay in contact with our homepage at www.efhsfoundation.org for news and event notices and remind you that we welcome your comments or suggestions. Please also keep the weekend of August 27, 28 and 29 highlighted as plans are now being formulated for a possible “ALL CLASS REUNION”. Mrs. Mary Jo Thomas is Chair of that committee and also welcomes your imput via her email maryjowv@comcast.net .

Respectfully submitted,

Delbert L. “Butch” Phillips

President
